Why have I chosen to call myself the Rebel Dieter? It is because even though I know I need to drop a few pounds, I don’t believe in the notion of “going on a diet”. The very concept stresses me out – big time. Being stressed out is not a good thing when you are trying to drop a few pounds.
Keeping a Weight Loss Journal
Everyone says that people who keep a journal to help them lose weight end up being more successful in the long room. I find that traditional food and exercise journals contribute to the problem that I have of getting stressed out when I try too hard. No, I need to find a way to build healthy habits without all the hype and therefore without the anxiety.
This, I have decided, is now my new weight loss journal. What will I record? So far I know I will share strategies, how I feel, how much weight I’ve lost, recipes just to to name a few things.
Listening to Our Bodies

Come on, I know exactly what I need to do to lose weight. I know it deep down. In fact, I believe we all know it. Our bodies want to be healthy and I’m starting to find that we get signals and clues about what to do.
If you don’t quite believe me think about this: Our bodies tell us when we should stop eating by telling us that we’re full, right? This is one of the most basic means we have to keep our weight down. I personally need to try to get back in touch with this.
What I Won’t Do
You know what? I don’t think I should read weight loss books and magazines anymore. If I read information about one more “method” I think I might just throw in the towel. This is exactly what I am talking about. It is the kind of behavior that is actually counterproductive for me.
I know how to exercise. I know what I need to do in order to drop the pounds. So, more than anything – the Rebel Dieter is more about empowering myself to get the job done, rather than obsessing about it.
